The Slayer and the Sun Mage

Hello and thanks for visiting my page! I'm thrilled to share with you all a story I'm in the final stages of editing and the early stages of querying: THE SLAYER AND THE SUN MAGE. It is a 100k-word, dual-POV new adult romantasy. Here's the blurb:

The dragons are dead, and the mages are dying. The gods have favored the humans, allowing a select few to channel their cosmic powers to maintain supremacy over mages by way of torture, enslavement, and murder. Only one mage has the power to stop these Chosen: the Slayer.

Mysterious moon mage Embra, who has been imprisoned for eight years, is in no hurry to escape. She traded her freedom for the safety of a girl she believes herself divinely prophesized to protect, and she is content to wait until she stores up enough magic to break free. But when her charge’s betrothal to a cruel courtier is announced, Embra’s patience runs dry.

Mage prince Westley is in every hurry to locate the Slayer and convince him to defeat his kingdom’s enemy. Believing that Embra is the Slayer’s paramour, he offers to free her in exchange for her help winning her lover to his cause. But the moon mages were once the sworn protectors of the dynasty Westley’s ancestors overthrew, and Embra feels that betrayal like a fresh wound. For the sake of her charge, she agrees. But neither Westley nor Embra is who they seem, and only together do they possess the power to restore the mages—and maybe even the dragons—to their former glory.

THE SLAYER AND THE SUN MAGE features the slowly-unfurling protagonist’s past exhibited in WHEN THE MOON HATCHED by Sarah A. Parker and the themes of mortality, grief, and longevity explored in the manga series FRIEREN: BEYOND JOURNEY’S END. Fans of Carissa Broadbent's DAUGHTER OF NO WORLDS are sure to enjoy it too.
